January Transfer Wishlist

As soon as the news broke that Chelsea's 2-window transfer ban was repealed, allowing for transfers in the January window, supporters began salivating about who would be the new faces brought in by Frank Lampard, Marina Granovskaia and Co. So far, this has not been an exciting transfer window for the Blues, with the only moves being players going out on loan rather than players coming in.
While Chelsea hold a 6-point lead in 4th place, this has by no means been an ideal first season for Lampard. The promise and excitement of youngsters such as Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Reece James breaking into the first team has been at times overshadowed by poor performances against lower-half opposition, such as losses to Southampton and West Ham United at home. The verdict among Chelsea supporters, and likely Lampard as well, is that signings are needed to improve several key aspects of the team. Left-back, centre-back, winger and striker are among the positions discussed. While neither Lampard nor owner Roman Abramovich will be forced into a "panic buy," with around a week left in the transfer window, here are some key signings Chelsea should certainly consider for this month.

Edinson Cavani
The veteran Paris Saint-Germain striker has fallen out with his squad, and PSG sporting director Leonardo has said that the Uruguayan has asked to leave in this transfer window. The 32-year-old has been linked to Chelsea on an 18-month deal, with Lampard hinting at potential interest in a press conference. Cavani's record shows that he is a proven goalscorer, someone who will finish off chances, and that is something that Chelsea have been sorely lacking this season. Cavani is still a world-class striker, and a player of his calibre being available at a cut-price fee, with his contract expiring in the summer, is surely a situation Chelsea must take advantage of during this window.
Raul Jimenez
The 28-year-old has been tearing it up this season for Wolves in the Premier League and Europa League, leading the team with 22 goals  as Wolves chase another European spot this season. The Mexican combines solid hold-up play with good dribbling, footwork, passing, and finishing, and he would absolutely improve Chelsea's forward line. Rumored to be available at 50 million pounds, he would be an excellent signing for the Blues.
Moussa Dembele
The young ex-Fulham striker has rejuvenated his career with Lyon, and is now being touted for a potential move to Chelsea. Abramovich is prepared to offer 45 million pounds for the Frenchman in order to ensure a striker in case Cavani's move fails. He not only has massive potential, but can also help the team in the present, and Lampard's excellent record with youth is an indication of how much Dembele can improve at Chelsea.
Isco Alarcon
Isco's situation at Real Madrid has been rocky for some time, and finally they are ready to sell him in order to finance a move for Tottenham's Christian Eriksen or another attacking midfielder. He was offered to Chelsea by Los Blancos owner Florentino Perez for 47 million pounds, but Liverpool's interest in him has driven up the price to 59 million. While Isco is not too keen on joining Chelsea, he would provide the creativity in midfield that the fans are crying out for, and if the transfer does go through, it will be a massive coup for Lampard and Chelsea.
Nathan Ake
When Ake left Chelsea for Bournemouth in 2017, a buy-back clause of 40 million pounds was inserted into his contract. The young defender has since developed into solid centre-back, capable of playing right-back and midfield as well. This window is Chelsea's last opportunity to exercise the clause, and 40 million for a player like Ake would be a bargain in this market. Although Chelsea already have 4 centre-backs alternated with no clear hierarchy, and Ake isn't exactly world-class yet, he is still a sound option and would be a solid purchase.
Robin Gosens
Relatively unknown at this stage, left-back Gosens has been quietly impressing at Atalanta, playing 16 games already this season in a wing-back role. With Reece James beginning to take over the right-back role at Chelsea, the left-back position is wide open at the moment, and the 25-year-old, valued at 20 million pounds, can provide Cesar Azpilicueta and Emerson Palmieri with some much-needed competition.

While it is still very possible that Lampard and Chelsea make no signings this window, they would be remiss to not consider these options as they seek to bolster their squad to continue their push for a top-4 finish.
